Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can cream mushroom soup
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a 10-inch skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion until the meat is browned and the onion is tender.
  2. Drain excess fat from the skillet.
  3. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 cup of milk, and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Meanwhile, cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  6. Return the cooked macaroni to the pan along with butter, 1/3 cup of milk, shredded cheddar cheese, and green pepper.
  7. Heat and stir until the butter and cheese are melted.
  8. Transfer the meat mixture to a 10 x 6 x 2-inch baking dish.
  9. Spoon the macaroni mixture on top of the meat.
  10. Cover and bake in a 350°F oven for 25 minutes.
  11. Uncover and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
