Juicy beef and sharp Cheddar cheese are combined into flavorful loaves, perfect for hearty dinners or casual gatherings, with savory relish and a tangy ketchup glaze.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 pounds lean ground chuck
  • 1/2 pound sharp Cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tablespoons pickle relish drained
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Saute chopped onion in butter until soft.
  2. Combine ground beef, 1 3/4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, relish, catsup, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and sautéed onion.
  3. Mix gently but thoroughly.
  4. Shape mixture into 4 to 6 individual loaves.
  5. Place loaves onto a greased baking pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes.
  7. About 5 minutes before baking ends, sprinkle the tops of loaves with remaining 1/4 cup cheese.
  8. Return to oven until cheese melts.
