Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 box beefy Hamburger Helper
  • 5 c. water
  • 1 can Mexican style chili beans
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 (16 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 (16 oz.) bag frozen corn
  • 1 (4 oz.) can sliced black olives
  • 1 c. chopped frozen okra (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef or turkey, chopped onion, and chopped green pepper in a large pot until browned.
  2. Drain off excess fat if using beef.
  3. Stir in the sauce mix from Hamburger Helper, water, seasonings, and chopped tomatoes with liquid.
  4. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in macaroni, frozen corn, Mexican style chili beans, and chopped frozen okra if using.
  7. Add sliced black olives with their liquid.
  8. Cover and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
