Ingredients

  • 2 lb. shoulder roast
  • 5 medium potatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 8 medium carrots
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef shoulder roast in butter or margarine in a frying pan on both sides.
  2. Place the browned beef in a pot and boil until tender.
  3. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
  4. Add potatoes, onion, carrots, beef bouillon cubes, salt, and sugar to the pot with broth.
  5. Add water until it covers the vegetables.
  6. Return the beef to the pot with the vegetables and simmer for 30 minutes.
