Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. chopped onions
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 1/2 Tbsp. celery salt
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan.
  2. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic; cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef and fry until browned.
  4. Add the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, water, chopped parsley, sugar, pepper, celery salt, salt, and bay leaf.
  5. Simmer the mixture for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Keep on a low flame during cooking.
