Ingredients

  • 3 lb. beef shortribs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup vinegar

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef shortribs on all sides in a large skillet without shortening.
  2. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour.
  3. Drain off the drippings.
  4. Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the ribs.
  5. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Serve the beef shortribs over mashed potatoes.
