Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. beef cubes
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 (1 5/8 oz.) can onion dry soup mix
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. flour

Instructions

  1. In a heavy pan, brown beef cubes in shortening.
  2. Pour off excess fat.
  3. Add onion dry soup mix and water to the pan.
  4. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Add frozen mixed vegetables, cover, and cook for an additional 20 minutes.
  6. Gradually blend 1/3 cup additional water into flour until smooth.
  7. Slowly stir the flour mixture into the stew.
  8. Cook and stir until the stew thickens.
