Beef Stroganoff Over Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak
  • seasoned flour
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large onion
  • 3/4 to 1 cup water
  • 10 to 15 sliced mushrooms
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes

Instructions

  1. Tenderize the round steak and cut into 1/2 x 4-inch strips.
  2. Roll the steak strips in seasoned flour to coat evenly.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add the steak strips and brown them on all sides, turning as needed.
  5. Slice the onion into thin rings and layer over the browned steak.
  6. Add water with chicken bouillon cubes and simmer, covered, until the steak is tender.
  7. If needed, add more water during simmering.
  8. Add sliced mushrooms and continue simmering for 10 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
  10. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Serve the beef stroganoff over steamed rice.
