- Combine butter, chopped onion, and minced garlic in a 1-quart microwave casserole.
- Cover and cook on high power for 2 to 3.5 minutes until the onion is tender.
- Trim excess fat from the sirloin steak.
- Cut the meat into thin, bite-sized strips.
- Add the meat to the casserole with the onion mixture.
- Cover and cook on high power for 3 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Continue cooking on microwave level 3 for 10 to 13 minutes or until the meat is cooked through.
- Stir in drained mushroom soup and ketchup.
- Remove from microwave and fold in sour cream.
- Heat briefly if necessary and serve hot.
