Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large can tomatoes (4 cups)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet and add the tomatoes, sliced onion, and sliced celery. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 2-quart casserole dish.
  3. Place a layer of shredded cabbage on the bottom of the casserole dish.
  4. Spoon a layer of the meat mixture over the cabbage.
  5. Add another layer of cabbage on top of the meat mixture.
  6. Repeat layering with the remaining cabbage and meat mixture, ending with a layer of cabbage on top.
  7. Sprinkle bread crumbs evenly over the top layer of cabbage.
  8. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
