Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 16 oz. can tomatoes
  • 4 cups chopped cabbage
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in 2 tablespoons of oil until fully cooked.
  2. Add chopped onion and celery to the beef and cook for 10 minutes.
  3. Add canned tomatoes, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil.
  4. In a buttered 2-quart baking dish, layer chopped cabbage and meat mixture, starting with cabbage and ending with a layer of meat on top.
  5. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the top layer.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes, uncovered.
