Ingredients

  • 2 lb. kolbasi
  • 2 lb. sauerkraut, drained, save juice
  • garlic salt
  • onion
  • salt to taste
  • 1 c. V-8 juice
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Place sauerkraut in a Dutch oven.
  2. Add beer to cover the sauerkraut.
  3. Add garlic salt, onion, seasonings, and V-8 juice.
  4. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  5. Melt butter in a small skillet.
  6. Stir in flour and brown well.
  7. Add 1 cup of juice from the sauerkraut.
  8. Stir and cook until thickened.
  9. Stir the thickened mixture back into the sauerkraut.
  10. Add the kolbasi sausages.
  11. Simmer covered for an additional 1.5 to 2 hours.
