Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups berries (oxhart or sweet cherries, raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries)
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Beat margarine and sugar thoroughly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a separate bowl.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla to the creamed mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  4. Gently fold in the floured berries into the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
