Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Blend flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in 3 tablespoons of butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  3. Beat the egg, then add half and half and 2 tablespoons of softened butter; mix well.
  4. Toss the mixture with a fork and knead very gently on a floured surface.
  5. Roll the dough to ¼-inch thickness, cut into rounds, and spread with softened butter.
  6. Place remaining rounds on top of the cutouts.
  7. Sprinkle the tops with sugar.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 14 minutes or until golden brown.
