  1. Place a slice of bread on a cutting board.
  2. Cut a hole out of the center of the bread using a small drinking glass.
  3. Gently remove the bread from the opening of the glass so as not to tear the bread.
  4. Melt butter in a skillet and put the slice of bread in the butter.
  5. Break the egg gently into the hole of the bread.
  6. Toast the middle of the bread in the skillet beside the piece of bread.
  7. Add salt and pepper to the egg.
  8. Gently turn the bread when the egg white is set and cook until desired doneness.
  9. Serve the toasted middle of the bread on the side of the Birds' Nest.
