Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan or microwave.
  3. Add cocoa to the melted butter, then add the dry ingredients.
  4. While blending, gradually add water and mix well.
  5. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla to the mixture.
  6. Blend at low speed until smooth.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 15 x 10-inch pan.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 15 to 20 minutes.
