Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
  3. Combine flour, cream of tartar, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  4. Beat butter in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  5. Add sugar to the butter and beat for 5 minutes.
  6. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  7. Stir in lemon juice and vanilla extract.
  8. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 1 hour.
  11. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
  12. Remove from pan and let stand, covered, overnight.
