B.L.T. Soup
A hearty, smoky soup combining bacon, tomatoes, and spices with a hint of Worcestershire for a rich, comforting flavor perfect for casual gatherings or cozy dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb bacon, cut into small pieces ⓘ
- 1 small onion, diced ⓘ
- 3/4 tsp garlic salt ⓘ
- 1 1/2 tsp parsley flakes ⓘ
- 1 tsp cumin ⓘ
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (16 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 4 tsp chicken bouillon ⓘ
- 4 cups water
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp thyme ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp oregano ⓘ
- 3/4 cup mild picante sauce ⓘ
Instructions
- In a Dutch oven, fry bacon until crisp.
- Remove bacon and keep warm, but don't let it get soggy.
- Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of bacon grease, trying to save all browned residue in the pan.
- Cook diced onion in bacon grease until translucent, but not brown.
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chicken bouillon, water, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, parsley flakes, cumin, thyme, oregano, and picante sauce to the pan.
- Cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
