- Cook bacon until crisp, remove and crumble into small pieces.
- Dredge cubed sirloin steak in flour seasoned with salt and pepper.

- Add bouillon, red wine, and a dash of salt; bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Transfer the meat and liquid into a casserole dish, add quartered onions, sliced carrots, peppercorns, cloves, and bacon.
- Cover and bake at 350°F (175°C) until fork-tender, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
