Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2 lb. sirloin steak, cubed
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1/2 cup bouillon
  • 1 cup red wine
  • dash of salt
  • 3 onions, quartered
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 4 peppercorns
  • 4 cloves

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon until crisp, remove and crumble into small pieces.
  2. Dredge cubed sirloin steak in flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
  3. Brown meat on all sides with crushed garlic in bacon fat.
  4. Add bouillon, red wine, and a dash of salt; bring to a boil and remove from heat.
  5. Transfer the meat and liquid into a casserole dish, add quartered onions, sliced carrots, peppercorns, cloves, and bacon.
  6. Cover and bake at 350°F (175°C) until fork-tender, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
