Bread Pudding With Apples

- Combine brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and 4 cups water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer and stir for 20 minutes.
- Discard the spices from the syrup.
- In a large bowl, combine peeled and sliced apples, raisins, almonds, and cheese.
- Butter a 3-quart baking dish and layer half of the toasted bread cubes in the dish.
- Spoon half of the apple mixture over the bread layer.
- Repeat with the remaining bread cubes and apple mixture.
- Pour the syrup with melted butter over the layered ingredients.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
