Ingredients

  • 2 lb. venison steaks, cut into slices 1/4-inch thick
  • 1 c. fresh lemon juice
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. fine bread crumbs
  • garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. water
  • 1 1/2 c. shortening

Instructions

  1. In a glass baking dish, marinate the venison steaks in lemon juice for 1 hour.
  2. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel.
  3. Sprinkle the steaks with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Beat the eggs with water in a shallow dish.
  5. Dip each steak into the beaten eggs, then into flour, shaking off excess.
  6. Finally, dip the steaks into bread crumbs, pressing lightly to adhere.
  7. Refrigerate the breaded steaks for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
