Ingredients

  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. honey
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 c. wheat germ
  • 1 c. white flour
  • 1/4 c. raisins

Instructions

  1. Mix together the buttermilk, honey, molasses, soda, and salt in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and white flour.
  3. Add the flour blend to the buttermilk mixture and stir until well combined.
  4. Stir in the raisins, if using.
  5. Pour the batter into a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F, then turn it back to 350°F and slide in the loaf pan.
  7. Bake the bread for 1 hour.
  8. Turn the loaf out, inverted, onto a rack to cool.
  9. Wait 1 day before slicing and toasting.
