Ingredients

  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 3 c. whole-wheat flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. cane molasses
  • 1 1/2 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients together: rolled oats, cornmeal, whole-wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  2. Heat the milk and add molasses; stir until well combined.
  3. Combine the wet mixture with the dry ingredients until thoroughly mixed.
  4. Spread the mixture in a shallow pan and bake in a moderate oven until crisp and golden.
  5. Once baked, grind the mixture and toast it like Grape-Nuts before serving.
