Ingredients

  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough
  • 1/2 lb white cheese
  • 1/2 lb yellow cheese
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 lb mild sausage
  • 1/2 tsp sage
  • 1/2 tsp parsley flakes
  • 1 egg
  • seasonings of your choice

Instructions

  1. Follow baking directions for oven temperature and let dough rise according to the package instructions.
  2. Brown the sausage with the chopped onion in a pan; crumble and drain the mixture, then let it cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine both shredded cheeses, cooled sausage and onion mixture, sage, parsley flakes, and the egg yolk. Mix well.
  4. Roll out the frozen bread dough flat on a floured surface.
  5. Pour the cheese and sausage mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  6. Roll the dough, tucking in the sides as you go, to form a loaf shape.
  7. Before finishing rolling, coat the edge with egg white to help seal the bread.
  8. Place the rolled dough on a baking pan and coat the top with the remaining egg white.
  9. Bake until the outer crust is golden brown.
