Broccoli Blankets are savory ham rolls filled with melted Swiss cheese and tender broccoli, topped with a creamy seasoned sauce. Perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 10 oz. broccoli spears, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil
  • 1 cup milk
  • dash pepper

Instructions

  1. Top each ham slice with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  2. Place a cooked and drained broccoli spear in the center of each ham slice.
  3. Roll up each ham slice with the broccoli inside and secure with toothpicks.
  4. Arrange the rolled ham in a 6x10-inch baking dish.
  5. In a skillet, cook sliced onions in butter until tender.
  6. Blend in flour, salt, basil, and pepper into the cooked onions.
  7. Gradually pour the milk into the onion mixture, stirring constantly to make a sauce.
  8. Pour the sauce over the rolled ham in the baking dish.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes until heated through and bubbly.
