Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cream
  • 1 cup coconut

Instructions

  1. Put 2 tablespoons of butter in the milk and heat.
  2. Mix together sugar, eggs, flour, vanilla, and baking powder to make a batter.
  3. Gradually add the heated milk and butter to the batter, mixing well to create a thin batter.
  4. Pour the batter into a 9 x 9-inch pan and bake for about 30 minutes.
  5. While the cake is still hot, prepare the frosting by mixing brown sugar, cream, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and coconut.
  6. Spread the frosting over the hot cake.
  7. Return the cake to the oven and broil until the frosting caramelizes.
  8. Allow the cake to cool before serving.
