Ingredients

  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, beat brown sugar and margarine until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla and egg yolk; blend well.
  4. Add flour and stir until the mixture forms a smooth dough.
  5. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly brown and set.
