Butter Crisps are rich, buttery cookies with a delicate crunch, enhanced by nuts and vanilla, perfect for tea time or as a sweet snack for gatherings.

- Cream the oleo and butter together, then add sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, salt, flour, nuts, and egg white; mix well.
- Spread the mixture with a spatula onto an ungreased 16 x 14-inch cookie sheet.
- Set aside until you whip the slightly beaten egg white.
- Brush the whipped egg white across the top of the cookie dough with a pastry brush.
- Sprinkle nuts on top of the egg streaked dough.
- Bake at 275°F (135°C) for 45 minutes to 1 hour until golden brown.
- Cut into squares immediately after removing from oven, but do not remove from pan until cooled.
