Brown Swiss Soup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 2 cups frozen chopped onion
  • 2 cans (13 3/4 oz.) beef broth
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 envelopes brown gravy mix
  • slices of thick French bread
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan and add chopped onion; cook until tender.
  2. Add beef broth and water; bring to a boil.
  3. Stir in brown gravy mix and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Divide the soup into small ovenproof bowls.
  5. Place a slice of French bread topped with Swiss cheese on each bowl.
  6. Bake at 450°F for about 3 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is toasted.
