- Shape pieces of dough into 1 1/2-inch balls.
- Mix brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground cloves in a bowl.
- Dip each ball into melted butter, then roll in the sugar and spice mixture.
- Place a layer of balls in a well-greased 10-inch tube pan, with sides slightly touching.
- Sprinkle some of the chopped nuts over the layer.
- Add another layer of balls, placing them in the wells created by the first layer.
- Sprinkle with more nuts.
- Repeat layers until the pan is nearly two-thirds full, leaving space for rising.
- Allow the dough to rise for about 35 minutes.
