Ingredients

  • 1 large sweet onion
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 3 c. finely shredded cabbage
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3 c. wide egg noodles
  • few drops red wine vinegar

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the onion.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onion, shredded cabbage, sugar, salt, and pepper to the skillet.
  4. Cook over very low heat, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 20 minutes until the onion and cabbage are softened.
  5. Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions.
  6. Drain the noodles.
  7. Sprinkle a few drops of red wine vinegar over the cooked cabbage and toss to combine.
  8. Add the drained noodles to the skillet and cook until everything is heated through and well blended.
  9. Serve hot.
