Ingredients

  • 6 quarts popcorn
  • 2 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Keep the popped popcorn warm in an oven set between 200 and 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a saucepan, boil the brown sugar, butter, light corn syrup, vanilla, and salt for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the baking soda.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn in a large ovenproof bowl and stir well.
  5. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, then remove and stir again.
  6. Return to the oven for another 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and spread the popcorn on waxed paper until cooled.
  8. Store in an airtight container.
