Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 17.5 oz. box Corn Chex cereal

Instructions

  1. Combine butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, and salt in a large glass bowl.
  2. Heat in microwave on High, stopping frequently to stir, until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from the microwave and stir in baking soda.
  4. Place Corn Chex in a large brown paper grocery bag.
  5. Pour caramel mixture over cereal.
  6. Stir, close bag, and shake to coat the cereal.
  7. Heat in microwave on High for 2 minutes.
  8. Remove and shake.
  9. Heat in microwave another 2 minutes.
  10. Remove and spread on cookie sheets or waxed paper to cool.
