Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seed
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and gradually add the sugar.
  2. Add the egg and mix well.
  3. Sift together the flour and baking powder, then add alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in the caraway seed, vanilla, and salt.
  5. Mix everything thoroughly. Pour into a prepared pan.
  6. Sprinkle with extra caraway seed and sugar on top.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with butter.
