Ingredients

  • 5 lb. Boston Butt pork roast
  • 2 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tsp. celery seeds
  • 1 tsp. chili powder

Instructions

  1. Pierce the surface of the pork roast with a sharp knife.
  2. In a Dutch oven, brown the roast on all sides in hot vegetable oil.
  3. Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine water, tomato sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, pepper, celery seeds, chili powder, and hot pepper sauce.
  4. Pour the sauce over the browned roast and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours or until the pork is fork tender.
  6. Baste the roast with the sauce during cooking.
  7. Slice or chop the pork to serve.
