A crunchy, creamy celery casserole topped with toasted almonds and breadcrumbs, perfect for a comforting side dish at family dinners or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh celery
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, sliced
  • 1 (2 oz.) can sliced pimento
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Cook celery in salted boiling water for 8 minutes; drain.
  2. Combine cooked celery, undiluted cream of chicken soup, sliced water chestnuts, and sliced pimentos. Turn into a 6-cup casserole.
  3. Heat butter until hot; add slivered almonds and stir until pale brown.
  4. Scatter the toasted almonds over the casserole.
  5. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the top of the casserole.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F.
