Ingredients

  • 1 c. bread crumbs
  • 2 c. cracker crumbs
  • 1 c. butter, melted
  • 1 qt. oysters
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. cream
  • 3/4 to 1 c. oyster liquor

Instructions

  1. Combine bread crumbs and cracker crumbs and mix with melted butter.
  2. Spread a thin layer of the crumb mixture in the bottom of a baking dish.
  3. Layer oysters over the crumbs.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add half of the cream and oyster liquor over the oysters.
  6. Repeat the layers with remaining crumbs, oysters, cream, and oyster liquor.
  7. Cover and bake at 450°F for 30 minutes.
  8. Ensure no more than two layers of oysters are used.
