Cheese Apple Squares offer a delightful combination of cheesy richness and sweet apple jelly, perfect for snack time, tea, or casual gatherings with a crisp, flaky texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup apple jelly
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Measure flour; add sugar and baking powder and stir well. Cream cheese and butter.
  2. Add blended dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
  3. Mix well and divide the dough in half.
  4. Press half of the mixture into an ungreased 8-inch square pan.
  5. Spread apple jelly evenly over the pressed dough.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining mixture on top of the jelly layer.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
  8. Cool and cut into squares before serving.
