Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cranberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons dried orange peel
  • 1 1/2 cups finely grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix cranberries and 1/2 cup sugar together until well blended.
  2. Blend flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl.
  3. Mix in the sugared cranberries, coarsely chopped walnuts, dried orange peel, and grated Cheddar cheese.
  4. Beat the egg with milk and melted butter together.
  5. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened.
