Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F and grease a cookie sheet.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, milk, shredded Cheddar cheese, softened butter, baking powder, sugar, and salt to form a soft dough.
  3. Gently smooth the dough into a ball on a floured surface.
  4. Knead the dough 10 times.
  5. Divide the dough in half.
  6. Roll one half into a rectangle approximately 12 inches long and 8 inches wide.
  7. Mark and cut the rectangle lengthwise into 8 (1-inch) strips.
  8. Fold each strip in half and seal the ends.
  9. Twist each strip into a pretzel shape.
  10. Place the pretzels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
