Ingredients

  • 1 can sour cherries
  • 3/4 cup oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • red cake coloring

Instructions

  1. Pour cherries and juice plus coloring into a 9 x 9-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients and press onto cherries.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes in a preheated oven.
  4. Serve with whipped cream or Cool Whip.
