Ingredients

  • 17 oz. yellow cake mix
  • 8 1/4 oz. coconut-almond or coconut-pecan frosting mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (1 lb. 5 oz.)
  • 2 tsp. margarine

Instructions

  1. Combine the cake mix, 1/4 cup melted margarine, and eggs in a bowl.
  2. Stir until the mixture is moist and well blended.
  3. Pat the mixture into a greased 13 x 9-inch pan, pressing evenly into the bottom.
  4. Spread the can of cherry pie filling evenly over the cake layer.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the frosting mix with the remaining margarine until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the frosting mixture evenly over the cherries.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
