Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. butter or margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 box white raisins (golden, seedless)
  • 12 oz. jar maraschino cherries
  • 2 cups walnuts (chopped in large pieces)
  • 4 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Bring the raisins to a boil, then drain and let cool.
  2. Mix together butter, sugar, and eggs, one at a time.
  3. Add dry ingredients to the mixture.
  4. Fold in the cherries, chopped walnuts, and cooled raisins.
  5. Pour the batter into an ungreased tube pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes, then lower the temperature to 300°F.
  7. Continue baking for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  8. Allow the cake to cool before removing it from the pan.
