Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider adding fresh basil or parsley to the meat sauce. If you're short on time, use no-boil lasagna noodles as a convenient substitute. You can also swap the ground beef for ground turkey for a lighter version, while still maintaining great taste. Remember to allow the lasagna to sit for 15 minutes before slicing for cleaner pieces.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this lasagna with a side of garlic bread and a fresh green salad for a complete meal. A glass of red wine pairs beautifully with this dish, enhancing the flavors of the rich meat sauce. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this lasagna ahead of time?

Yes, you can assemble the lasagna a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Just cover it tightly with plastic wrap or foil. When ready to bake, remove the cover and add a few extra minutes to the cooking time to ensure it's heated through.

What can I substitute for mozzarella cheese?

If you prefer a different cheese, provolone or a blend of Italian cheeses can be used in place of mozzarella for a unique twist. Ricotta cheese can also be added for creaminess, but it's best to adjust the quantity of cottage cheese accordingly.

How long should I cook the lasagna in the oven?

Bake the lasagna at 375°F for about 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. If you like a crispier top, you can broil it for the last few minutes, but watch closely to prevent burning.
