Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Italian bread
  • Fresh parsley
  • Milk
  • Ground beef
  • Bread crumbs
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Soak the bread in milk until thoroughly wet.
  2. Drain the bread well, squeezing out most of the milk, so the crumbs are moist but not dripping.
  3. Combine the bread crumbs with the ground beef, egg, minced parsley, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  4. Knead the mixture well until fully combined.
  5. Shape the mixture into balls about an inch in diameter.
  6. Optional: roll the meatballs in bread crumbs for a crispier exterior.
  7. Heat a large skillet with olive oil over medium heat.
  8. Add the meatballs and cook, stirring, until browned on all sides.
  9. Pour in about half a cup of milk or slightly more into the skillet.
  10. Partially cover and simmer until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce thickens.
  11. Serve the meatballs with sauce spooned over them, alongside salad, spinach, mashed potatoes, or pasta.
