- Cream butter and shortening together until smooth and fluffy.
- Gradually add sugar, beating well on medium speed until the mixture is light and creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Combine flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
- Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture, mixing until well blended after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract and lemon extract.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
