Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 teaspoon meal
  • 1/2 stick margarine, melted
  • 1 small can Pet milk (5 1/2 oz.)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix 1 cup sugar, egg yolks, meal, margarine, Pet milk, and vanilla.
  2. Pour into an unbaked pie shell.
  3. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.
  4. Reduce oven temperature to 350° and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until the pie is set.
  5. When the pie is done, add the cream of tartar to the egg whites.
  6. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  7. Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar and continue beating until well mixed.
  8. Spread the meringue on the baked pie.
  9. Return to the 350° oven and bake until the meringue is browned.
