Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. In mixing bowl, cream sugar and shortening.
  2. Add syrup and egg; beat well.
  3. Add flour to creamed mixture; add vanilla and mix well.
  4. Stir in oats and walnuts.
  5. Pour into greased 9-inch square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
  6. Cut into squares while warm.
  7. Cool on wire rack.
