Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, marinate the chicken with the paprika and some salt for about 30 minutes before cooking. If you want a thicker sauce, you can add a tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with water during the simmering phase. For a twist, consider adding a splash of soy sauce or using bell peppers in different colors for a vibrant presentation.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Chicken Afretada hot over steamed rice to soak up the delicious sauce. It pairs wonderfully with a side of sautéed vegetables or a fresh salad, like the Hawaiian Summer Salad, for a light contrast. For a heartier meal, consider crusty bread to accompany the dish and help scoop up the sauce.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover Chicken Afretada can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm it gently on the stove over low heat, adding a splash of water if needed to loosen the sauce. It can also be reheated in the microwave in short intervals, stirring in between.
