Chicken Dressing Supreme

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf stale bread, crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp. onion, minced
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp. sage
  • 2 chickens, cooked and diced
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 6 c. chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Combine bread, onions and seasonings; place in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
  2. Spread chicken over dressing.
  3. Melt butter.
  4. Blend in flour until smooth.
  5. Add broth; stir well.
  6. Add eggs; cook until thickened.
  7. Pour sauce over chicken and dressing.
  8. Sprinkle lightly with bread crumbs.
  9. Bake at 300° for 45 minutes.
  10. Yield:
  11. 15 to 20 servings.
